The Royal Borough of Greenwich is consulting the general public about Public Health Services in General Practice.
To complete the questionnaire: https://www.surveymonkey.co.uk/r/2DPYFRZ
We currently commission a number of services from GPs in the borough
- NHS Health Checks (this is a health check-up for adults aged 40-74. It's designed to spot early signs of stroke, kidney disease, heart disease and diabetes)
- Stop Smoking Support (services staffed by expert advisers to provide a range of proven methods to help people quit, including nicotine replacement therapy)
- Some specialist contraception options (such as the Implant or IUD, commonly known as the coil), but excluding the contraceptive pill.
GPs are not required to provide these specialist services. Some GPs choose to provide all of these services to their patients, whilst others provide one or two of them (for example, some provide Stop Smoking Services, but do not offer specialist contraception to their patients). There are some GPs that offer none of these services. This means that depending on which GP you go to, you may not have access to some of these services at your general practice.
We are planning to offer these services in a new way. We are proposing to establish up to 8 Live Well Greenwich hubs, based in general practices across the borough. These hubs will operate as separate clinics, open to all irrespective of which GP you go to.
We believe these hubs will provide convenient, speedier access to these services and we would like your feedback to help shape how they work.
The questionnaire will take between 5-10 mins to complete. Closing Date: 6th March 2018
